PivotFlex™ Wing Mounting
Many trainers' wings attach with rubber bands—so they can "pop off" in a crash and avoid severe damage. Some other wings bolt-on for speed and simplicity. NexSTAR's unique PivotFlex mounting system has the advantages of both. The wing fastens quickly and securely with one nylon bolt. A rubber retainer and pivoting channel absorb the minor jolts of normal use. In more serious mishaps, the wing can still separate from the fuselage and escape the full force of impact.

CenterCore™ Main Wing Rib
NexSTAR's main wing halves are securely joined with an extra strong steel rod and perfectly aligned by the molded composite CenterCore rib with built-in aileron servo mount.

EasyAlign™ Tail Mounting System
Tail assembly of other trainers is complicated by the difficulty of routing mounting hardware through locations where it can't be seen. The NexSTAR's Easy Align system guides parts into place automatically—producing a strong, straight tail with less time and effort. You don't even need tools!

SnapGear™ Quick Landing Gear Mounts
The SnapGear system provides the strongest landing gear available in any R/C trainer...and you can install it in three seconds! You literally "snap" the extra-thick duraluminum gear into a nylon mount already installed in the fuselage. It locks into place—but can also be removed simply by pressing a release pin.

Active Flight Stabilization

NexSTAR™ Precision Airfoil
Trainer airplane wings have flat-bottom airfoils. That's such standard practice that few manufacturers give it a second thought. Hobbico did—and designed a new wing whose unique, carefully researched shape actually features TWO different airfoils. The unique combination improves efficiency and lift for greater stability at all speeds, and especially at the slow speeds seen at takeoff and landing.

NexSTAR™ SpinControl™ Airfoil Extensions
If flying speeds slow so much that the main wing cannot produce lift, a plane 'stalls'—rolling to one side and possibly spinning out of control. These leading edge "wing droops" are another special NexSTAR safety net: They continue providing lift in a stall so that the wing remains level and you can stay in control.

SpeedBrakes™ Training Flaps
These unique flaps limit speed so you don't move faster than you can think and react. You might appreciate them most while approaching the runway for landing—they not only slow you down, but increase stability at the same time. Ready for a little extra 'zip'? Just remove the SpeedBrakes and go!

IsoSmooth™ Engine Mount
Your NexSTAR's O.S. .46FXi engine arrives already installed on this special mount. No tapping or drilling is needed. The IsoSmooth design lowers engine noise and keeps engine vibration from being transmitted to the rest of the model—isolating it from potentially serious airframe and radio damage.

As your flying skills grow, NexSTAR grows with you.

Reduce the AFS sensitivity.
Using an ordinary screwdriver, you can dial down the sensitivity of the Active Flight Stabilization or turn it off completely. With the AFS no longer holding the NexSTAR on a stable flight path, you’re free to experiment with more challenging maneuvers, including mild aerobatics.

Remove the SpeedBrakes and SpinControl airfoil extensions.
Installed, these components help your NexSTAR fly straight, level, and at comfortably slow speeds. Removed, you have new opportunities to advance your piloting skills by mastering faster flight speeds and exploring a wider range of maneuvers.

Install optional flaps or dual ailerons.
Your photo-illustrated NexSTAR manual shows step-by-step how to upgrade your model into more than a basic, 4-channel airplane by adding operational flaps or dual ailerons. Mounts are already built into the wing, beneath the covering, for the additional servos needed to control them.
